he is 39 years old and if he wants something he goes and buys it and this is our first christmas together also we have two children whom we have bought gifts for I just want to make a really nice gift basket for really cheap

Some nice boxers, a CD with his fave music, A tie, nice beanie, couple of nice shirts, cologne, wirtband for his fav sports team, a watch, Mens house slippers...I don't know how big your basket for him is going to be, but those are just some little odds n ends that you might want to think about getting for him.
