My parents always get wine as a gift for Christmas, Easter, their anniversary, etc. They aren't really particular about the taste. They receive so many bottles and don't really prefer one over another. I wanted to do some red wine/ cheese/ cracker gift baskets for my in-laws and I suggested it to my boss who in response asked me if I knew what type of red wine they drank. I don't know though. Since I am not a wine drinker I'm not sure of these things. Does it really matter what type of red wine or are certain ones better/worse? Are people really particular about the wine they drink? Can I just ask the employees at the liquor store what they suggest? Do I have to find out their preference or can I just go to the store and see what they suggest?

You never go wrong if you buy the expensive wines from France, Italy and also California. It would be very enlightening if you try to find out the preferences of people that you intend to give the wine. Wines have so many varieties or classes, and it could be confusing sometimes. But to make things simple, just try the red and the white varieties. So there you are. Of course, you can also ask suggestions from the store what to buy, say as to the most bought wines or most tasty and classy ones. Good luck to you.
