I was at the Dollar Tree picking up Marshmallows and a 2 liter thing of coke for two class parties and I realized I did not get one person I wanted to a valentines gift. So I picked up a little bag that had around 10 chocolates in it. I went to cash out and they were like to the chocolate bag "Where did you find this?" I told them "In the candy section." She went to someone and asked if it was a Christmas item and came back and was like "No, we have to destroy this." I was like "...why?" thinking in my head 'if they want to destroy it why not give it away?' they said "It's after Christmas we have to send it back to the place we got it from." I was...somewhat annoyed. It's in their store, we should have a right to buy it. I was going to say "It's in your store and not stored away, we have a right to buy it. Now either sell it to me or give it to me." but I kept my mouth shut. I was real...annoyed that they kept stuff out from Christmas. They say "Sometimes things get placed around." If they KEPT THEIR STORE CLEAN it wouldn't be lost. They don't bother to clean up their store day by day. People eat while in the store, throw things around. They don't put anythingi n order. They shove it in baskets and sometimes they get misplaced and now it's...if you want something you have to dig around and find it. I had the right to buy it since it was in the shopping section and not put away, right? They don't have the right to say I can't buy it when it's in the shopping section, do they? It's not alcohol or anything.

Wtf!! You definitely had a right to have that! What store destroys items that didn't get sold. It usually all gets placed on a sales shelf or discount rack. I think they were probably lying to you and the fat clerk just want the candy for herself. I'm sorry that you had to waste your time with those people. Lame, for sure. ...P.S...That guy above has a good point...that candy had to be really old. YUCK! Hence, why you should of been able to have it. lol.
