I have a 50 year old friend that's about to be off work for a few months due to surgery. My coworkers and I would like to make a "off work survival basket" for her. I need help thinking of fun stuff to put in it. So far we have come up with a book, tea, a bell, activity books, hand held games, snack food, candy, nail polish. Any ideas??

A bell is great! I love it and may even adopt that idea myself!

maybe add a soft robe, socks,
maybe those little facial wipes so that she can freshen up here and there,
pencils to go with your activity books,
Music CD,
Campbell Soup at hand (if someone is there to help, but it is portable and easy),
pretty bookmark to go with book,
nail polish remover wipes if she changes her mind on color.
In a Ziploc bag so she can dispose easily.
Tissues, Nail file, hand cream
Something to put her hair up so she can feel more comfortable, or look pretty easily.
Maybe in a basket with a lid so she can keep it by her bed.
You can design it open and use the road in the back and fill towards the front.
( You can get something like that at Michael's or other craft store)
