On purpose or not intentional? Soooo confused...?

a few days ago my sister had a baby and called her Trisha, well, my husband who is 49 years old (and I am 40) has a hard time remembering names, so he tried to associate the baby's name with something that will help him remember it. The best he came up was the "trash", he told me so and I got hurt but decided not to make a big deal, so I didn't say anything. A few days later while shopping at Costco, I asked him to pick up a gift basket because we will be going to visit my sister on Sunday. Well, my husband said that he bought a new trash basket. I don't understand if he is doing it on purpose or it is just a coincidence, it feels like he is, but then why would he want to hurt me? What do you think? And if he is doing it on purpose why?

A lot of people have a hard time remembering names and use word association to help them along. If the baby was just a few days old, he has not had time to use this association in order to remember her name. He probably commited to memory the word "trash" to remind him of Trisha's gift basket. But with shopping and other errands, just the word "Trash" basket came to mind, so he got a trash basket. Give him a break because you will be laughing about this later. Talk about the baby a lot using her name so it will be commonplace in his vocabulary. If that's the worse thing he ever does, you are so lucky.
