ok so i found a snail in a fruit basket i had received as a gift and i am wondering if if the snail contaminated the fruit? the fruit is pre-cut and the kale is underneath it

It's perfectly fine. Just wash it. A snail can't 'contaminate' your produce. It's not poisonous & only leaves a slime trail, which easily comes off with water. You can use vegetable wash if it really squicks you out, but snails & bite marks on leafy greens is totally normal, especially if a friend gifted you with some homegrown organic treats.
