OK the army just stationed me and my husband here in Maine. We have met this marine and his wonderful wife. They have have been the only true friends here we have met. I wanted to get them a christmas basket full of different cookies. However I was talking to her a few days ago and that's what they are doing for us hehe.. Sweet of them but now we cant do it for them. What should we get them now? By the way we have not known them very long. We don't know what they would like. I know her 27th birthday was Oct and we took her and her hubby out to this restaurant, and a night out on the town, but we don't really know what they like. We norm just hang out and play board games but they already have all the games I can possible think of.. Please help any ideas?

Same basket, different contents. Make a selection of different fruits. Make that brightly coloured to go with Xmas. A couple of Fiji apples with their bright pink skins; yellow bananas; peachy peaches; some kiwi fruits, a couple of custard apples and some lychee nuts, A punnet of strawberries to go with that; sweet, of course. Two Granny Smith green apples, a bunch of purple grapes and white, too. A couple of avocados and some bright red chilis, strictly for cooking. That should do it nicely. Add a bright red bow onto the basket handle or scrunch up a sheet of cellophane, red, and tie it on with a green ribbon. Or, since you are living in Maine, how about four bottles of red wine? Shiraz is marvelous. Nettle them into a cosy pad of scrunched red cellophane in your basket again, and add a note: "Thought you'd enjoy a red Christmas." And have a very merry Xmas yourselves..
