Original gifts for the parents?

I dont want what is very common to do with the engraved picture frames & things like that. I'd like to do something original & I have no idea what to do! I know that I'm making both sets of parents thank you cards & including a promise of a photo album filled with our professional wedding pictures later. But I'd like to give them something at the rehearsal dinner, not just the card & a promise of something later, you know? For my matron-of-honor I'm putting together a spa basket with candles, tea, mug, bath salt, scrub, loofah, slippers, etc. Plus a thank you card. For the bridesmaids, who are my nieces and young (12 yrs, & 13 yrs old but who look much older! haha) I'm getting those white canvas totes that say "Bridesmaid" on them & filling them with pretty hair pins & other knick knacks. But I'm stuck on the parents! Any suggestions?
--------------------
as each of my siblings and i were married we struggled with the very question you have raised. two of us bought them a water globe one has a bride and groom dancing while the other one has an older couple dancing. they both play a pretty little tune and they sit on their dresser. another one of us bought them an antique mirror - not a huge one - but one with a different shape to it and that sits in the entry hall. our brother and his wife bought them a weekend get-away but they have a fair bit of money and could afford to do that. my other sister started my parents on 'willow' ware and she adds to the set on special occasions like christmas, anniversaries etc. we all made sure that our parents have lots of wedding photos and wouldn't think of calling those a thank you gift but mum and dad both often commented they didn't have the 'perfect' album for the photos so when i got married we found a beautiful wooden photo album. the cover of the album is made of teak and has an square 5x7 opening on the front cover to accommodate a picture so we put mum and dad's wedding photo in that~and now they have all the family wedding photos in one place. it all takes some thought but eventually you'll find the perfect thank you for them! good luck and happy wedding!
