My mom likes to drink wine, and my parents usually drink it after big meals on Sundays. So for mother's day I was thinking of getting her a wine gift basket, or a bottle with a customized label on it. So that brings me to the question as to A) is this an appropriate gift on Mother's Day? and B) What would be something good to throw on the label?

Sounds like it would be appropriate at your house. It wouldn't be, at ours, since we do not drink wine. And if I'd given it to my mother, she would have thrown a huge fit. The idea is to give Mom something she likes.
