I have a couple of mormon missionaries that just moved into my building and I heard that they live on a limited budget and I was wondering if I gave them a care basket of food or a gift certificate to the local supermarket, would they take it? If they wouldn't then what if I left it anonymously in their mailbox, would they use it then? Would they prefer something other than food? Maybe a gift card to Wal-Mart (I know they shop there) because it has clothes and other things besides food there.

They will take food, or have a meal with you. They don't take "presents". They would feel really great if a neighbor was concerned for them, even if they were not interested in the discussions. In our area, they are signed up for dinners five days out of the week, so they hardly starve.
