I Need your Opinion ...Is This Rude or not ? Please Answer ?

My boss had a baby ,I asked around to see if anyone was planning anything , I was told that Ann was thinking of doing something not sure what so I e-mailed her and told her that I had some ideas from this site :)she was like okay let's wait till the baby's born ,and will do something , she said that she would check with her friend to see if she could get a discount on these shoes everyone wanted to get , so last week the baby was born I posted a sign saying we were going to put together a gift basket ,sign up if interested so today I asked my manager if he had gotten anything and he said kind of does that mean you took out money for me to pick something up ( which was the plan ) he said no me Ann and Joey ( who also said he would give me money )are all going to get something as a group of Managers ,how rude is that ? that they can't get something with everyone , and changed the plan ...I just think it's rude , it's kinda like they're saying they're better than us to get something separate oh and out like twenty staff only ten signed up three dropped out ? question two : Are people getting more and more selfish?

I agree, that sounds really rude and elitist of them to just go with the other "managers" and exclude everyone else. Silly too. I don't know if people are getting more greedy but things seem to be getting tougher for all the working class, so it's hard to give every time someone has an event. It just gets to be a lot, especially at work. Everyone seems to be collecting for something or other.
