Strapped for cash--gifts for daycare teachers?

i've had some unfortunate situations over the past year and am very strapped for cash this year for gifts. it's most important to me that my daughter has a nice christmas so she is all taken care of, but i really would like to give a token of my appreciation to her 2 teachers at daycare since my daughter is the most important person in my life and i know she is in good hands there. i don't want to seem cheap, so what are some ideas? i was thinking something food--homemade candy, or some homemade bistotti with ground coffee to go with it, arranged in a nice basket. I really would like to spend $10 or so on the 2 of them, 2 identical gifts. any other ideas or would these be OK?

I am a teacher and I have tons of teachers in my family. Our advice is to go with food/ consumables. Even if the person doesn't eat that particular thing it is an easy thing to share. Don't spend on a mug or perfume or ornament. But _do_ write a nice note saying just what you say hear about your daughter is important to you and that you feel comfort in knowing she is in good hands. We love the cards and notes and same them for years. Include a picture of your daughter if you have one handy because we look through these on bad days and they cheer us up. Don't feel bad about the expense. What we really want is respect and a little lovin' (maybe with chocolate thrown in).
