Cat AND Dog bring in "live OR dead" HOW TO STOP THEM?

Both my calico kitty (1 yr old) & llasa apso bring in baby rabbits, birds, moles, mice etc... How CAN I stop them? I just stepped on a mouse at bottom of stairs & had to VACUUM OUT MY TUB, due to feathers EVERYWHERE! The birds go straight UP the stairwell thinking it's "outside" I guess! This is an EVERYDAY occurrence! When ALIVE I MUST lock dog/cat in rooms, open doors & windows---sometimes this is an ALL-DAY chore! It's really gotten out of hand. I now follow her when she comes in with her announcing "MEW I'm BACK!" :) Please, ANYONE??? Cat would've never gone out, except there's a DOGGIE DOOR! IS THERE ANYWAY 2 stop THIS??? I live in MI & getting COLD, ,so leaving doors etc open is NOT option in bad weather. Thanks for ANY SUGGESTIONS....I"m out of ideas & KNOW these are "GIFTS" from them, but stepping on them in dark is getting OLD(ARGH!) *I didn't KNOW bunnies make a sound UNTIL My b/f yelled for me to bring basket! IT was hiding on stairs!

Keep your cat inside and stop letting your dog outside unsupervised. DOgs and cats both are predators. APparently yours are quite good predators. There really is no way to stop this behaviour. Even putting bells on cats doesn't really work.
